Searching for an easy, great tasting chocolate pecan pie recipe? Well, you've found it. This recipe makes 2 pies, so if you are looking to only make 1 pie just use half the amount of each ingredient.
Here is what you will need:
3 cups sugar
Pinch of salt
7 Tablespoons cocoa
4 eggs
1 large can evaporated milk
1 Tablespoon of vanilla
1 stick of butter/margarine
2 cups of coconut (if you don't like coconut feel free to leave this ingredient out of the mix)
1 cup of chopped pecans
2 deep dish unbaked pie shells
First, mix sugar, salt and cocoa. Then add your eggs, milk and butter and mix. (My butter was room temperature.) Lastly, stir in the vanilla, coconut, and pecans. Pour into two deep dish pie shells (1 shell if you halved the ingredients) and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes-1 hour.
Since my oven bakes hot I started at 340 degrees for 30 minutes then bumped it up to 350 degrees after that. It seemed to take forever for them to cook but once they did, man they are delicious!! To see if it is done, just give the pie a little shake. If it looks like it is still liquid looking near the center, cook it a little longer. We hope you enjoy this chocolate pecan pie recipe!
Note: You can leave the coconut out but it adds a nice texture to the pie.
*Once again I put my pie covers over the edge of each of the pie crusts so they wouldn't burn or get too crunchy.
